Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating critical thinking and effective communication skills.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Beds: 35
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
• Common Diagnoses: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring.
• Common Drips: Cardizem, beta-blockers, seizure medications
• Support Staff: Nurse aides or patient care techs in a 1:10 or 2:20 ratio

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Type: Nights (18:30 - 07:00)
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Every third holiday

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS

Orientation and Training

All new hires will undergo an onboarding process during the first week, followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation. RNs are required to pass an open book exam on skills learned during orientation, achieving a minimum score of 90% to retain their position.

Additional Notes

The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve in a dynamic environment. Artificial nails are prohibited within patient care departments.

Floating Requirements

Employees may be required to float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units as necessary.
