Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on cardiovascular services and related patient populations.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 18
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4; 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours.
• Common Diagnoses: Patients requiring intermediate care, downgraded CVICU patients, and support for thoracic programs, electrophysiology, catheterization lab, and structural heart procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiovascular conditions.
• Titrate drips as required, including medications such as Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, and Cardizem.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members, including hospitalists and intensivists, who are available 24/7.
• Conduct patient monitoring and assessment, including reading and interpreting telemetry strips.
• Supervise nursing aides and patient care technicians.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience with cardiovascular patients.
• Must have a valid driver's license, as it will be used to determine eligibility based on distance requirements.
• Artificial nails are prohibited; compliance with the hospital's fingernail policy is mandatory.

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700; schedules are managed by the unit manager.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Floating Requirement: May float to other units with the same or lower acuity levels.

Dress Code

Scrub color: Navy Blue.

Orientation

Orientation will be tailored to meet the needs and experience level of the candidate, typically involving 1-2 shifts on the unit.
