Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position is for the night shift and requires commitment to providing high-quality care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Number of L&D Beds: 11 and 7 antepartum/high-risk beds
• Operating Room Suites: 2
• Triage Beds: 3
• Postpartum Beds: 24
• Annual Births: Approximately 4000

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients during labor and delivery, including monitoring fetal status and maternal health.
• Utilize advanced skills to manage high-risk obstetric patients, including those with pre-eclampsia, diabetes, and other complexities.
• Titrate medications, including Pitocin and Insulin, as per protocols.
• Assist in surgical procedures and recover patients post-operatively.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Skills: Experience with high-risk OB, Triage, and OR circulating duties is essential.

Work Schedule

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Call or Standby Requirement: Yes
• Floating within the unit may be required.

• In-House OB & Neonatologist: Available 24/7
• Electronics and Monitoring: Centricity Perinatal for electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Dress Code: Hospital Scrubs
• Unit Orientation: Specific orientation for department provided
