Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Oncology. The ideal candidate will have experience in caring for adult patients and will be committed to providing high-quality patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: PCU Oncology
• Primary Patient Population: Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU patients
• Number of Beds: 18

Shifts

• 12-hour shifts
• Day Shift: 0630 to 1900
• Night Shift: 1830 to 0700
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling is available while balancing unit needs

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Oncology experience is preferred but not required; strong PCU experience is acceptable
• Charge nurse experience is not required

Certifications

• Required: BLS and ACLS certifications
• Preferred: ONS/ONCC certification

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Nights: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients

Floating Requirements

Traveling nurses may be required to float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care.

Orientation

New staff will complete two days of unit orientation to ensure comfort with protocols and procedures.

Skills and Equipment

• RNs should be comfortable managing titratable drips including Insulin and Cardizem
• Common drips/medications include Chemotherapy, Heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
• Common respiratory equipment includes high-flow devices
• EMR: Epic
• IV Pumps: Alaris

• Physical and Occupational Therapists
• RN Case Manager
• Social Worker
• Educator
• Dietitian

Patient Experience Focus
