General Information
- Number of Beds: 15 total, including 2 dedicated cardiovascular rooms
- First-time travelers are welcome with at least 2-3 years of experience
- Required years of experience: 2-3 years
Patient Types
The role involves working with patients undergoing:
- Open heart procedures
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
- TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
- AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement)
- MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)
- Sternotomy
- Thoracotomy/Thoracoscopy
- VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery)
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
Patient Ratios
Patient-to-nurse ratio is set at 1:1.
Required Skills
- Experience in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) settings
- Competency with listed patient types
Required Certifications
- BLS certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Support on the Unit
The unit is supported by:
- Operating Room Assistant (ORA)
- Desk Assistant
- Some First Assistants (FAs)
- Charge Nurse
- Team Leaders for service lines
Technology and Equipment
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
- IV Pumps: Plum 360
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Spacelabs
Orientation
A comprehensive 2-week orientation will be provided on day shifts. New hires are expected to take buddy call during this period.
Scheduling
- Weekend rotation includes on-call duty.
- On-call schedule: 10-12 days per month.
- Holiday working is anticipated as per contract requirements.
- Time-off requests must be approved by the manager.
- Schedule cycle will be determined based on the department's needs.
