Located in Union Gap, WA, this off-campus emergency department is open 24/7 and is equipped to handle a variety of patient needs.

General Information

• Beds: 8-10 beds (opening November 3)
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of emergency room experience required.
• First-time Traveler: Yes

Patient Types

This department caters to a diverse patient population including:

• Neonates to Geriatrics
• 25% Pediatric patients
• Walk-in traumas across various medical issues including cardiac, neuro, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and psychiatric cases.

Patient Ratios

• Standard Ratio: 1:4
• Fast Track Ratio: 1:6 (Team Nurse: RN, NP)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Skills Required

• Strong emergency department experience and customer service skills.
• Familiarity with medication administration; ability to mix own medications.
• Proficient in managing ventilators (training will be provided).
• Experience with chest tubes, central lines, and strong IV skills.
• Willingness to take on charge responsibilities, with training provided if necessary.

Unit Support

You will work alongside:

• Charge Nurse
• Emergency Department Physician
• Emergency Room Technician
• Front Desk Staff
• EST/Phlebotomy (majority of blood draws performed by RN)

Please note: There are no Respiratory Therapists on-site; RNs will manage vents, and medication mixing will be done under pharmacy supervision via video conference.

Floating Policy

No floating to other units is required.

Orientation

• Complete a hospital orientation.
• Attend an 8-hour respiratory class.
• Spend one full day on the unit.
• Complete Traveler Telemetry Competency prior to starting, with compliance oversight by SimpliFi.

Scheduling

• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts with potential start times:
  • Days: 7:00 AM
  • Mids/Eves: 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM
  • Nights: 7:00 PM
• Schedule Cycle: 6-week schedules.
• Holiday Expectations: Every other holiday or 50% of holidays.
• Requested Time Off: Up to 5 days approved.
