Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team in a vibrant healthcare environment located in City, State. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring high-quality clinical practices while adhering to safety standards.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Approximate monthly deliveries: 300
• Number of beds: 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, 2 operating rooms
• Nurse Aides: OB technician support (2 per shift)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; additional shifts may be scheduled
• Holidays: Expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care for high-risk obstetric patients with multiple co-morbidities and manage multiple births.
• Support the perinatal initiatives, including skin-to-skin contact and attending to the needs of surrogates.
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and implement care plans.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including in-house laborists and anesthesiologists available 24/7.
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Float to postpartum and NICU as required, with a focus on ensuring a smooth transition for patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Strong IV skills are essential; familiarity with Cerner EMR is required.
• No first-time travelers are accepted.

Additional Notes

This facility promotes a "Baby Friendly" environment with a strong emphasis on comprehensive maternal and neonatal care. A two-shift floor-specific orientation will be provided to acclimate to the work environment and protocols.
