Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing specialized care for patients in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary qualifications and experience needed to thrive in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Position Details
- Unit: Cardiac ICU
- Unit Type: Cardiovascular Intensive Care
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years
- Common Diagnosis: Patients with fresh open hearts and mixed ICU conditions
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS Certification
- NIHSS
- PALS (Preferred)
Shift Requirements
- 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend
- Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Candidates will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on the first day (PASS/FAIL)
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 30 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:1-2, with 90% of the time at a 1:2 ratio
- Charge Nurse: Yes, does not take patient assignments
- Nurse Aides: Not present
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, holiday requirement may be applicable
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Electronics: GE monitors
- Vents: Yes
- Medical Staff: Hospitalist in-house 24/7
- RT and Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- Shifts: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, self-scheduling with a manager review for finalization
Orientation and Floating
- Orientation: 1 day of unit-specific orientation
- Floating: May be required to float to any telemetry or med-surg units
Additional Notes
Candidates must have recent experience with fresh open heart surgeries as well as working with mixed ICU patients. This experience is crucial for providing the best care to our patients.
