Location: Lone Tree, CO

General Information

The Emergency Department has the following characteristics:

• Number of Beds: 27
• Staff: Approximately 60 staff members
• Core Staffing: 4 RNs (or 3 RNs and a medic), 1 EMT, and 1 EMT or secretary
• Max Staffing: 7 RNs and 1 medic (or 6 RNs and 2 medics), 3 EMTs, and 1 secretary
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 with a charge nurse typically not assigned to a patient, providing additional support when critical patients arrive
• Equipment: Comprehensive equipment for a Level II trauma ED, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy capable stroke center
• EMR: Meditech (DOS platform)

Typical Hiring Profile

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of current Emergency Department hospital experience
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC
• PALS certification will be accepted in lieu of ENPC
• CPI Blue card

Preferred Qualifications:

• CEN certification and/or experience with Meditech
• Experience working in a high-volume Emergency Department

Typical Procedures Performed:

• Comprehensive treatments associated with a Level II trauma ED, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy capable stroke center
• Care for psychiatric or at-risk patients with a focus on safety monitoring
• Procedural sedation using Propofol, Etomidate, and Ketamine

Unit Guidelines/Policies

This is a busy Emergency Department, with a 30% admit rate and less than 10% low acuity patient volume. Approximately 20% of patients are classified as ESI 2, with an EMS rate of 28%.
