Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech is responsible for providing critical support in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role focuses on assisting medical professionals during procedures, managing equipment, and ensuring optimal patient care.

Position Details

• Unit: Cath Lab
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 1 year
• Certifications Required: ARRT, BLS Certification

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Cardiac Cath Lab
• Number of Labs: 3 Cath Lab rooms + 1 Hybrid OR
• Average Cases per Day: 13-26
• Common Diagnoses: STEMI, NSTEMI, CAD, PAD, PVD, CHF, Heart blocks, Cancer
• Types of Cases: Cardiac, peripheral vascular, Interventional Radiology, Pacemaker insertions

Key Responsibilities

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech will:

• Control the C-arm during medical procedures.
• Assist physicians during cases by scrubbing and supporting various tasks within the scope of practice.
• Prepare patients for procedures while ensuring their safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year of experience handling cardiac cases; experience in Interventional Radiology is preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR: Experience with Merge and Cerner for electronic medical records and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Equipment: Proficiency with Philips X-ray machines.

Scheduling and On-Call Requirements

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech will typically work:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week.
• On-call requirements usually involve one night call shift per week and one weekend call shift per month.
• Holiday call is distributed equally among staff members.

Response Time and Orientation

• Call Response Time: 30 minutes.
• Orientation: 1-2 days of general orientation followed by 2 days of unit-specific orientation.
