Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU

General Information:

• Number of Beds: 36 beds; typically 18-20 patients.
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in a Level 3 NICU required; first-time travelers accepted.
• EMR Experience: Cerner or EPIC experience required.

Patient Types:

Responsibilities include caring for patients in NICU and floating to the adult population as needed.

Patient Ratios:

Patient ratios depend on staffing levels.

Required Certifications:

• BLS and NRP required for NICU positions.
• ACLS/APLS preferred.
• Certification Preference: RRT preferred, but CRT with at least 2 years of experience will be considered.

Skills Required:

• Adult: General and critical care experience.
• NICU: Experience with ground transports and Nitric Oxide administration preferred.
• Must be able to work independently in a Level 3 NICU and may be the only NICU RRT on night shifts.

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs
• Ventilators: PB 840, PB 980, Drager VN500, LTV, Airvo
• Oscillator: 3100A

Floating Responsibilities:

Floating will occur to any like units or patient locations, including adult care.

Orientation:

• New travelers or those returning after more than 1 year will undergo 24 hours of classroom training followed by 24 hours on the unit.
• Rehires: Orientation requirements will vary based on the last date of employment.

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor holiday per policy.
• Requests for time off: Approval for up to 7 days off is possible excluding certain blackout dates.

• Martin Luther King Jr. Day: January 15
• Valentine’s Day Week: February 10 – February 17
• Spring Break Week
• Easter Weekend: March 30 – March 31
• Mother’s Day Weekend
• Memorial Day Week: May 24 – May 27
• Father’s Day Weekend
• Labor Day Weekend: September 2 – September 4
• Halloween: October 30 – October 31
• Thanksgiving: November 22 – November 25
• Christmas and New Year’s: December 23 – December 26; December 31 – January 1

Shift Times:

• Day Shift: 7 AM to 7 PM
• Night Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
