Position Summary

Registered Nurses (RNs) play a vital role in promoting health and preventing illness. They provide professional nursing care to acutely ill, convalescing, and chronically ill patients as directed by the Medical Staff. Medical-Surgical Nurses focus on the comprehensive care of patients, administering medications under the supervision of physicians and maintaining accurate records of symptoms and progress. Additionally, they oversee licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nursing assistants (CNAs), and nursing students.

Essential Job Duties

• Assess patients and perform care responsibilities tailored to the patient's age and diagnosis.
• Communicate with Providers, Charge Nurses, and care team members regarding changes in patient clinical conditions.
• Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or responses to treatment.
• Perform general nursing duties within all departments with appropriate supervision.
• Adhere to the Five Medication Rights to minimize the potential for medication errors.
• Formulate and evaluate a patient teaching plan based on identified learning needs, including family or caretaker involvement.
• Interact with patients, families, co-workers, and Providers with respect, dignity, and empathy.
• Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families or caregivers.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan and provide age-appropriate care.
• Document patient care according to standards and policies.
• Participate in the orientation of personnel and in-service training activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift Information

Day Shift: 7:00 am - 7:30 pm; 12-hour shifts. Rotating days. Holiday coverage is required.

Minimum Years of Experience

Two years of nursing experience is required.

Certifications / Requirements

• ACLS Certification
• BLS/BCLS Certification
