Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MedSurg/Telemetry unit. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to individuals with a variety of medical and surgical conditions.

Unit Details

The MedSurg/Telemetry unit, specifically 4N Neuro, cares for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and includes a range of patients such as those recovering from surgeries, individuals with strokes, and other stable neurological deficits.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with diverse medical and surgical needs.
• Monitor patient vital signs and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Titrate intravenous medications including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure effective patient management.
• Engage in hourly rounding and responsiveness to patient needs.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, adhering to all safety protocols.
• Inspect telemetry strips and demonstrate familiarity with cardiac rhythms.

Requirements

• 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple patient care needs.
• Must comply with the fingernail policy, prohibiting artificial nails for patient care.

Schedule and Expectations

• Shift Length: 12 hours (Day shifts)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Minimum every other weekend; additional shifts may be needed based on unit needs.
• Holiday Requirements: Participation in 2-3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year’s.
• Floating may be required to other medical-surgical areas based on patient needs.

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo 2 days of unit-specific orientation to ensure familiarity with protocols and practices.
