Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist for a 26-week contract. This role involves working in an acute care hospital setting, providing patient care and evaluations across various medical disciplines.

Shift Information

• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Shift Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
• Option for 10-hour shifts is available; please indicate preference during application

Responsibilities

• Conduct chart reviews, develop schedules, and provide patient care and evaluations
• Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with physical therapists
• Caring for a patient load of 7-8 patients per shift, building up to full capacity
• Assist with late joint evaluations on a rotating basis
• Discharge last joint evaluation by 5:00 PM, with completion no later than 6:30 PM
• Develop treatment plans for patients with various diagnoses, including general medicine, neuro, ortho, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, surgical, and ICU cases

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required
• Current Occupational Therapist licensure (KSBHA required, NBCOT preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only) required within the first 90 days
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting is essential
• Ability to work with acutely ill patients and manage transferring patients with lines and drains
• Familiarity with Epic is advantageous, though not required

Additional Information

There are no call or weekend responsibilities. The facility has a three-strike call-in policy that will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This is an award-winning Level II Trauma Center located in Topeka, Kansas.
