• Current Pennsylvania RN Licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (renew every 2 years)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (renew every 2 years)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (renew every 2 years)
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Position Summary

This role involves providing professional nursing care in alignment with the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop a care plan, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate patient care outcomes across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics. The position may require scheduled on-call assignments, influenced by community events affecting Emergency Department patient volume.

Essential Functions

• Triages patients upon entry to the emergency care system, determining care priorities based on their physical and psycho-social needs.
• Conducts hourly rounding within the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting area to monitor patient needs, documenting comprehensive nursing histories.
• Develops and implements tailored care plans based on ongoing assessments, ensuring the availability and functionality of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Continuously updates care plans to align with patient needs and family input, incorporating elements of discharge planning.
• Manages various complications and emergencies according to organizational policies and ENA standards, while recognizing changes in patient health status to ensure safety.
• Documents patient responses to interventions, facilitating competent medical care.
• Provides health education to patients and families, ensuring understanding of treatment plans and discharge instructions.
