Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a Stepdown Unit. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions.

Shift Information

• Shift: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours (1845-0715)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday

Unit Details

• Unit: PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 20
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3 (maximum 1:4 if medical overflow)
• Available Support Staff: Nurse Aids (1:7 days, 1:11 nights)

• Cardiac Conditions
• Respiratory Issues
• Alcohol Withdrawal
• Renal Failure

Qualifications

• Required Years of Experience: 2 Years
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS
• Experience in Acute Care, Cardiac and Respiratory Nursing

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be expected to:

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment
• Titrate drips as required (e.g., Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone)
• Monitor patients using telemetry equipment, with assistance from monitor technicians
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in unit orientation and continuing education
• Float to ICU or Med/Surg departments as necessary

Equipment and Technology

• Familiarity with respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula required
