Description

Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering care to Emergency Room patients by employing the Nursing Process, compliant with the state Nurse Practice Act and institutional policies and procedures. The role requires critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership skills to ensure the safe delivery of patient care in the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Nursing Process in patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment in clinical decision-making.
  • Plan and anticipate patient care needs for safe delivery.
  • Ensure maintenance of clinical competencies through ongoing education.
  • Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
  • Provide direction and supervision of assigned personnel in patient care activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Valid nursing license in Arizona.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems, preferably Cerner.
  • Trainee designation in NIH Stroke Scale is recommended but not required.

Work Environment

The Emergency Department is a Trauma Level III certified unit, equipped with 38 beds, providing comprehensive care including stroke and STEMI treatment. Nurses in this role may be required to float to different areas within the facility as needed.
