Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a medical-surgical/telemetry unit. The position offers a dynamic work environment, caring for diverse patient populations.

Unit Information

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

• Number of Beds: 22
• Number of Staff: 30
• Staffing Overview:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 4 RNs, 2 Patient Care Assistants, 1 Unit Secretary, 0-2 Sitters
  • Night Shift: 4 RNs, 1-2 Patient Care Assistants, 0-2 Sitters
• Patient Ratios: Maximum 6:1
• Type of Equipment: Standard
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• 1+ years of acute medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time

Preferred Skills:

• 2+ years of experience working with neurological patients (CVA, TIA, AMS)
• Background in neurology, neurosurgery, or orthopedics is preferred; however, a med/surg/telemetry background will suffice

Typical Procedures Performed

• Caring for medical-surgical patients
• Standard nursing skills, including:
  • IV insertions
  • Urinary catheter insertion and maintenance
  • Central line maintenance
  • Medication administration
  • Effective communication with all members of the care team
  • Documentation in Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Continuous bladder irrigation
  • Nasogastric tube insertion and maintenance
