Description
Job Description
We are seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our dedicated team. In this role, RNs will provide specialized care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), utilizing their skills and expertise to manage complex patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patient care in the ICU setting.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies according to protocols.
- Titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation as required.
- Assist in the use and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Number of Beds: 33
- Average Daily Census: 16 patients
- Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults
- Common Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, substance abuse, sepsis, post-surgical care, stroke, vascular complications, renal failure, and heart failure.
- Support Staff: Nurse aides available based on patient volume; Healthcare Support Tech on-site three days per week.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period
- Orientation Details: 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
Important Notes
- Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with additional scheduling considerations for travelers.
- Compliance with fingernail policy is required (artificial nails prohibited).
- Floating to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Med-Surg may occur, maintaining ratios similar to those on the ICU.
- RTO (Requested Time Off) must be provided upfront, with a limit of 7 days per 13-week contract.
