Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care and step-down unit nursing, with the ability to provide exceptional patient care for a variety of complex conditions.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 on both day and night shifts
• Common Diagnoses: Adults with cardiac, renal, respiratory, and oncology conditions, among others

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Type: Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract timeframe

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including administering medications and titrating IV drips as necessary
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement patient care plans
• Perform assessments and ensure the safety and comfort of patients
• Manage and interpret telemetry readings and read ECG strips
• Support patients with respiratory support equipment and perform troubleshooting

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS
• Competency in managing arterial lines and administering titratable drips, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Ability to work flexibly within a team environment and respond positively to feedback
• Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity, particularly with diverse populations
