Unit Information

Unit: North Channel FSED

Location: Houston, TX

Number of Beds: 22

Staffing: 23 Team Members

• Day Shift: 1 CNC, 3 RNs
• Mid Shift: 2 RNs
• Night Shift: 1 CNC, 3 RNs

Patient Ratios: 1:4

Equipment Used: Splinting, defibrillator, Hamilton Vent, Welch Allyn, Bedside Cardiac Monitoring, etc.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech Magic transitioning to Meditech Expanse on August 13

Job Description

This position involves working within a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care within an emergency department setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to teamwork and patient experience.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Valid RN License

Preferred Skills

• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform IV starts and blood draws
• Administer moderate sedation and splinting procedures
• Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care

Work Environment

This role requires flexibility in scheduling. Weekend shifts may be necessary based on unit needs, approximately every other weekend or as preferred.

No on-call shifts are required.

Dress Code

Scrubs must be royal blue, with closed-toed shoes (no crocs or open holes), and no false nails or excessive accessories. A stethoscope is required for assessments.

Floating Areas

In addition to primary responsibilities, staff may need to float to Fairmont FSED if necessary.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required.
