Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position involves working in a combined unit of Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum care, providing high-quality healthcare to mothers and newborns.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Type: Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Work as per permanent staff rotation

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, Postpartum combined
• Number of Beds: 10 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratios:
  • L&D: 1 to 1-2 (following AWHONN guidelines)
  • Postpartum: 1 to 4 couplet care
• Common Diagnoses: High-risk deliveries, drug withdrawal cases, twin deliveries, and occasional post-op gynecologic surgeries.

Responsibilities

As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

• Managing and conducting deliveries independently.
• Providing comprehensive postpartum care for mother and newborn.
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Maintaining accurate medical records using the Cerner EMR system.
• Floating to med-surg or CCU if desired, but primarily working in L&D and postpartum.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Current certifications in:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Teamwork-oriented attitude with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Additional Information

This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the potential for call shifts. Nurses will participate in a floor-specific orientation of 2-3 days. The unit is staffed with 4 OB/GYNs and 2 midwives, with hospitalists available 24/7, ensuring 24-hour care coverage.
