Position Overview
This opportunity is open to first-time travelers with a minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU, including proficiency in EPIC or Cerner. If the applicant has strictly ICU experience, Cerner experience is required. Note that travelers must be away for at least 6 months before returning to the facility.
Travelers will be assigned to their home unit on the first day of orientation.

23 Beds
Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries
Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Required Skills: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations.

5 South Neuroscience
33 Beds
Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post-trauma, angiogram
Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Required Skills: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-Collar, abdominal binders, restraints.

5 North MedSurg/Oncology
39 Beds
Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal. MS/Oncology patients.
Patient Ratios: 1:6 for RN and LPNs
Required Skills: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration if certified.
Includes tele-monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on the ground floor.

4 South Clinical Decision Unit
18 Beds
Patient Types: General MedSurg, including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort.
Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Required Skills: Assessment, prioritization, communication, documentation skills, tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints.

3 South Orthopedics
20 Beds
Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies.
Patient Ratios: 1:5; 1:6 if MedSurg
Required Skills: PCA pumps, wound care (including negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, Foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains).

3 North MS/Ortho/Urology
23 Beds
Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg.
Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Required Skills: Tracheostomy care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, central line dressing changes, adherence to nurse-driven Foley protocol.
