About the Facility
Located in a vibrant city, this facility has 492 beds and is designated as a Level II Trauma Center. It also features a Level III NICU and is recognized as a Primary Stroke Center.
Unit Information
The position is available within a mixed acuity unit that accommodates both intermediate care patients and non-vented ICU level patients.
- Unit: 4 South
- Beds: 18
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 1 year of ICU experience is required. First-time travelers are welcome with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
Patient Types and Common Diagnoses
- Neurological and post-procedural patients, including post TNK and neuro IR procedures.
- Conditions such as hemorrhages, aneurysms, spinal cord injuries, respiratory failure, CHF, sepsis, and electrolyte abnormalities.
Patient Ratios
- RN: 1:3 based on acuity
- CNA: 1:12
Required Licensure and Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Essential Skills
- Experience managing patients on BiPAP/CPAP.
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring hemodynamic lines.
- Familiarity with titratable drips, including Cardizem, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
Department Support
The unit provides robust support including:
- CNA assistance with patient care tasks.
- Receptionist/Health Unit Coordinator for administrative tasks.
- Phlebotomy services and IV/VAT Team availability.
- 24/7 access to Respiratory Therapists, Hospitalists, and Intensivists.
- Telemetry monitoring with RN oversight for telemetry strips.

- IV Pump: Plum 360
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Spacelabs & Resparray
Orientation and Training
All new travelers will undergo a comprehensive orientation program consisting of 24 hours of classroom training and 24 hours on the unit. Rehires will have orientation based on their last date of employment.
Scheduling Details
- Weekend rotation is required every other weekend.
- Holidays: One major and one minor holiday is expected.
- Approval for time off: Up to 7 days can be approved, excluding blackout dates.
- Shift times include 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
