Job Overview
This position is for a Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN) involved in providing comprehensive patient care in a progressive care unit. The role requires a dedicated nurse who excels in telemetry monitoring and is capable of managing patient needs effectively.
Shift Information
- Day Shift: 0645 to 1915
- Scheduled: 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- No guarantee of hours
Unit Information
The Progressive Care Unit consists of a 15-bed unit, which includes:
- 3 Step Down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step Down ICU.
General Responsibilities
The following duties are expected of the Progressive Care Registered Nurse:
- Provide primary nursing care to patients
- Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips
- Perform fingerstick blood sugar tests
Equipment Utilized
The following equipment will be used within the unit:
- Meditech charting
- Pyxis for medications
- BIPAP therapy
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital acute care within the last year
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
- ACLS certification preferred
- Current PALS certification preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
Additional Requirements
The nurse may be required to float to other acute units, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatric, ICU, and Emergency Room as needed. Scrubs are the required dress code for this position.
Holiday Coverage
Holiday coverage will be required as part of this role.
