Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). This role requires a strong background in critical care and specialized skills to provide high-quality patient care.
General Information
- Unit: CVICU
- Shift Details: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirements: Rotating
- Guaranteed Hours: 36
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
- Certifications:
- Active TX RN License (no temporary licenses accepted)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) certification required
- Required Skills:
- Hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines)
- Ventilator management
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Preferred Skills:
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) exposure
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) exposure
- Experience with Meditech charting and order entry
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Post Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Post Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Post catheterization with various cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
Dress Code
- Scrub Color: Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Nail Policy: Clean and healthy nails required
- Hair: Must be neat and clean; no extreme styles or colors
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible
- Piercings: Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
Unit Policies
- Floating guidelines apply; travelers are required to float when necessary
- Attendance policies require timely arrival; badging in and out for shifts is mandatory
- Full 30-minute lunch break is required
