Job Overview
We are seeking skilled Registered Nurses to join our Med/Surg units. This role involves providing high-quality patient care to a diverse population, including individuals with various medical conditions.
Unit Information
- Units: Med/Surg (2 West, 6 West, 7 South, 4 Wiser, 5 Wiser)
- Beds:
- 2 West: 13 beds
- 6 West: 14 beds
- 7 South: 12 beds
- 4 Wiser: 30 beds
- 5 Wiser: 25 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: Typical ratio is 1:5, adjusted for higher acuity patients.
- Common Patient Diagnoses: General Med/Surg cases, congestive heart failure, diabetes, post-surgical care, trauma, acute kidney injury, sickle cell anemia, gastroparesis, and respiratory illnesses.
Qualifications
- Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for Charge RNs.
- Experience: Level 1 trauma experience or experience in a larger facility with high surgery volumes and acuity is essential. Candidates must be comfortable with medical lines and chest tubes.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Start and manage IV drips as requested, including heparin and potentially amiodarone.
- Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs regularly.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Utilize telemetry monitoring; each unit has tele capability with patients monitored at all times.
Work Environment
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts, available for day or night rotations.
- Schedule: While managers work to accommodate block scheduling, flexibility is essential as travelers may need to fill staffing gaps.
- Weekend Requirements: Expected to work every other or two weekends per month as needed.
- Floating Policy: Staff may float to different Med/Surg units based on patient needs and skillset.
- Dress Code: Solid color scrubs are required; professional appearance is essential.
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccine is mandatory, with medical exemptions accepted upon documentation of severe adverse reactions.
- Fingerprinting is required, with options for in-person processing at the facility or remote processing (with additional time for completion).
Orientation and Training
- Orientation will include unit-specific training and access to necessary systems and resources.
- New hires will complete two additional shifts with a preceptor for seamless integration into the unit.
Location: Multiple positions available in various Med/Surg units within the region.
