Unit Information
Location: Wichita, KS
Type of Unit: Delivery Room
- Number of Beds: 26
- Number of Staff: 112
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 for high-risk labor c-sections
- 1:2 for antepartum, PPROM, PTL on magnesium, postpartum on magnesium
- 1:3 for postpartum on magnesium with no baby
- Outpatients: Variable
- Type of Equipment:
- Alaris pumps
- PCA pumps
- Monica Novii telemetry
- CPN (GE) monitor
- Electronic Medical Records: Meditech / CPN
Job Responsibilities
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse will provide compassionate care to patients in a high-stakes environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assessing patient condition and needs during labor and delivery
- Monitoring fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs
- Managing pain relief options for patients, including administering analgesia and anesthesia as necessary
- Participating in delivering newborns, including assisting in c-sections and inductions
- Performing procedures such as AROM, IUPC, DFM, and Doppler evaluations
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of current hospital Labor and Delivery experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM-C or AWHONN
Preferred:
- Experience with circulating c-sections
- High-risk labor and delivery experience
