Unit: Bone Marrow Transplant ICU
General Information
Unit Overview:
- Number of Beds: 37
- Number of Staff: 60 nurses; 5 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Staffing Structure:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10-12 nurses, 3 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10-12 nurses
Patient Ratios: 1:2
Equipment Used: Baxter Pumps
Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech
Typical Hiring Profile
Required Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of current BMT ICU experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chemotherapy Certification
- BMTCN and/or OCN certification
Typical Procedures Performed
- Administration and monitoring of high-risk infusions
- Neutropenic Fever protocols (blood culture draws, IV medications)
