Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing care to laboring or preterm pregnant patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role requires the ability to skillfully manage C-sections and utilize computer charting systems, preferably Cerner.
Job Details
- Unit: Labor and Delivery
- Shift: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per schedule
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the labor and delivery process.
- Assist with C-sections and provide intraoperative support and recovery.
- Titrate drips including Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate as per protocol.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Cerner EMR.
- Float to Mother-Baby and Postpartum units as needed.
- Participate in orientation and continuous education to enhance skills.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in Labor and Delivery nursing.
- Certifications: Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications are required.
- Dysrhythmia Exam: Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to accepting an offer.
- Skills: Must have experience with computer charting systems, particularly Cerner.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 18 LDRP’s, 14 bed OB triage, 8 bed Antepartum.
- Average Deliveries: 8-10 deliveries per day.
- Operating Rooms: 2 fully equipped ORs available for C-sections.
- Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1 based on acuity; Antepartum can be 4:1; C-sections 1:1.
- Hospital Designation: Level II EQ capable of managing gestations from 28 weeks and above; operates under Level 1 Trauma certification.
Additional Information
- Holidays: Coverage is appreciated during holiday shifts.
- Orientation: A floor-specific orientation lasting 1 week will be provided.
- Scrub Color: Blue scrubs are required.
- Respiratory Therapy: Available on-site 24/7 for patient needs.
