Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional respiratory care to patients in a variety of critical situations, ensuring their respiratory needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Timing: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Work into the permanent staff holiday schedule

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Respiratory Therapy
• Average Treatments per Shift: 2 to 4, based on patient census
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • California License
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist
• Common Diagnosis: Typical inpatient population requiring respiratory therapy

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist in administering respiratory therapy treatments and therapies according to physician orders.
• Provide care and ensure comfort for patients with respiratory illnesses and conditions.
• Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement care plans.
• Utilize the Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for patient documentation.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience with both pediatric and adult patients preferred; NICU experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to float based on patient acuity and census.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.

Work Environment

The position involves working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment that operates 24/7. The Respiratory Therapy department works closely with all healthcare professionals, including hospitalists and intensivists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
