Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU

Unit Information

This is a Level 2-3 NICU unit featuring 18 beds, focused on providing specialized care for newborns. The unit operates continuously, alongside a Post-Partum Unit.

Unit Staff

• Director
• Charge RN
• 5-6 NICU RNs
• Neonatologists
• Neonatal Nurse Practitioners

Patient Care and Equipment

The unit specializes in caring for infants born at less than 32 weeks gestation along with newborns experiencing critical illnesses. The following equipment is used:

• Heart Monitor
• Oximeter
• CT Scan
• MRI
• Endotracheal Tubes
• Ventilators
• CPAP
• Nitric
• Jet Vent
• IV Drips
• Central Lines

Patient Ratios

• 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 for feeder/grower infants

Documentation System

The documentation system utilized is Meditech.

Call Requirements

There are no mandatory call requirements. Staff may be required to float to the Postpartum Unit as needed.

Qualifications

Must Have:

• Level 3 NICU experience
• BLS, NRP, STABLE certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• NCC, RNC-LRN, C-NPT certifications
• C-EFM certification
• Ability to think critically and demonstrate emotional empathy and stability
• Excellent communication skills
• Capability to multitask and work independently

Dress Code

Scrubs should be navy blue.
