Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our MedSurg team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• # Beds: 32
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Aides Ratios: 1:5

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Hypertension
• Chest Pain Work-Ups
• COPD Exacerbations
• Asthma and Pneumonia
• Pancreatitis
• Bowel Obstructions
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding
• Acute Renal Failure

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to assigned patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Titrate drips for analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives as needed.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
• Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float within the unit and potentially to additional areas as determined by nursing management needs.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA).
• Knowledge of NIHSS is preferred.

Scheduling and Orientation

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available.
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Orientation: Must be available for a week of orientation; details will be provided during this week.

Dressing Code

Scrubs should be navy blue. Please ensure to follow the unit's dress code guidelines.
