Job Overview
This position involves providing high-quality care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Candidates will be responsible for managing critically ill patients and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of patient care.
Unit Highlights
- Shift Details: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Rotating
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Floating Requirement: All travelers are required to float as per unit policies
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a strong critical thinking ability and the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of ICU experience
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in MICU & MSICU
- Exposure to IABP and CRRT
- Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
Unit Procedures
Common procedures performed in the unit include:
- Chest tubes and GI scopes
- Intubations and insertion of central and arterial lines
- NG tubes, Foley catheters, and dressing changes
Dress Code
All staff must adhere to the following dress code:
- Scrub color: Navy scrub top and pant, navy or white scrub jacket
- Nail policy: Clean and healthy
- Hair: Neat and clean without extreme styles or colors
- Facial hair: Must be clean and neatly trimmed
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible
- Piercings: Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
Unit Policies
- Attendance and punctuality are crucial; clock-in time is at 6:38 AM/PM (considered tardy after 6:45)
- Badging in and out for each shift is required, along with a full 30-minute lunch break
