Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a dynamic Emergency Room (ER) environment. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Position Details

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience: 2 years required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• PALS (AHA)
• TNCC

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to emergency department patients.
• Participate in patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to provide quality patient outcomes.
• Perform advanced dysrhythmia interpretation and manage common drips.
• Involve in precepting new staff as needed.

Unit Information

• Trauma Level: Level III with STEMI and Stroke Receiving capabilities.
• Average Patients Treated: Approximately 70 per day.
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 based on acuity.
• Common Diagnoses: Pediatrics, cardiac, STEMIs, strokes, trauma, and general ER cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room experience.
• Ability to float to other units as needed.
• First-time travelers are welcome.

Scheduling Information

• 12-hour shifts with varying start times.
• Every other weekend and holiday commitment.
• Matrix scheduling to accommodate traveler preferences.

Work Environment

The ER consists of 18 beds, including 4 critical rooms, with security available 24/7. Clinical staff will work closely with respiratory therapists, who are present in the ER to provide necessary treatments and support.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs are required; undershirts must also be navy. Optional scrub jackets must be navy as well.

Orientation

New hires will undergo a structured orientation process of 1-3 shifts, guided by a preceptor, with a focus on competency check-offs.

Additional Notes

Nursing staff are not responsible for the setup of psych patient placements; specially assigned personnel will manage this process. Extended placements are preferred for travelers.
