Job Description
We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team. This position requires a highly skilled nurse capable of managing critical patients in various ICU settings.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Unit Overview: The Float Pool includes Tower 2, Tower 4, and 4 Neuro, featuring a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2.
- Patient Types: Medical, surgical, trauma, cardiothoracic, ECMO, and neuro patients.
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Schedule: Day shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM.
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period (Saturday and Sunday).
- Holidays: Must be available for holidays based on unit needs.
Responsibilities
- Manage and care for critically ill patients across multiple ICU areas as well as MedSurg/Telemetry units.
- Function independently and efficiently when floated to different departments.
- Complete a SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, ensuring adherence to sterile field practices.
- Conduct quality skin assessments within the first four hours of your shift.
- Participate in bedside report and collaborate with team members for optimal patient care.
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU, preferably in a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital.
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS Certification; NIHSS preferred but not necessary.
- Knowledge & Skills: Proficiency in managing critical drips, utilizing respiratory support equipment (e.g., vents, CPAP, BiPAP), and interpreting telemetry strips.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient safety protocols and maintaining sterile environments during procedures.
Work Environment
- Dynamic and collaborative nursing environment with a focus on high-quality patient care.
- The staffing office is not on-site; assignments may be communicated via a texting service.
Orientation
- A minimum of 2 shifts of orientation will be provided, with additional time if needed.
