Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a telemetry and medical-surgical capacity. The ideal candidate will have strong acute care experience and be prepared to provide comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Telemetry and Medical-Surgical
- Bed Capacity: Various units with the following specializations:
- 7th Floor: Surgical unit (36 beds)
- 8BC: Long-term low acuity (17 beds)
- 9th Floor: General medical cases (38 beds)
- 2 South: Short stay and cardiac (41 beds)
- 3 South: Neuro unit (33 beds)
- 4 South: Ortho and spine (21 beds)
Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients on telemetry and medical-surgical units.
- Conduct accurate assessment and monitoring of patient conditions.
- Administer medication and titrate drips as per established guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and training.
- Be flexible to float between units based on patient care needs.
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 12-hour shifts.
- Every other weekend requirement.
- Holiday availability required during winter holidays.
Floating Requirements
Candidates will be required to float between all medical-surgical and telemetry divisions, including various specialized units.
Patient Care and Safety
- Maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios (4-5 patients per RN).
- Caretaking support from certified nursing assistants (CNA) with a ratio of 8-11 patients per CNA.
- Engage in patient safety protocols and emergency response as needed.
Additional Notes
Orientation will consist of dedicated training hours across various units. Travelers will not be oriented to alternate units, as care standards remain consistent across departments.
