Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MedSurg team on the 5th Floor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care nursing and experience managing a variety of patient diagnoses, including stroke, spine, neuro trauma, and general medical-surgical cases.

Job Details

• Unit: MedSurg 5th Floor
• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in acute care nursing
• Certifications Required: BLS (AHA)
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Self-Scheduling: Available

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
• Caring for patients with a variety of conditions, including but not limited to stroke, spine issues, and neuro trauma.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and manage patient vitals and reactions to medications, including pain management and anticoagulation therapy.
• Float to other clinical areas as necessary, depending on departmental needs.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of nursing practices.

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:4 to 1:5
• Nights: 1:5 to 1:6

Additional Information

• Telemetry: Philips Telemetry with centralized monitoring; RNs are required to be competent in reading telemetry strips.
• Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:12
• Equipment: Moderate oxygen needs, including supplies for Cpap, Bipap, and High Flow.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs.
• Orientation: Specific dates and locations provided during orientation week.
