Description
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in the MedSurg unit with a focus on renal patients. The role requires expertise in managing a variety of medical conditions and is vital for providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with medical-surgical conditions, including congestive heart failure, hypertension, COPD exacerbations, and acute renal failure.
- Monitor patient vitals and assess medical needs, implementing appropriate interventions accordingly.
- Titrate medications such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives as per physician orders.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate patient recovery and discharge planning.
- Participate in unit orientation and ongoing professional education.
- Float to varied units as required to meet organizational needs, with potential for floating to ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and other medical-surgical units.
Work Schedule
- Night shift with a length of 12 hours.
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
- Weekend commitment of a minimum of six shifts per six-week schedule.
- Flexible self-scheduling and block scheduling options available.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS (AHA).
- Knowledge and ability to utilize CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow equipment.
- Experience in reading telemetry strips is desirable.
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications are preferred.
Unit Details
- 22-bed capacity within the Med/Surg unit.
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4.
- Nurse aides are available with a ratio of 1:50.
Work Environment
This role will involve direct patient care in a fast-paced medical-surgical setting, with an emphasis on providing high-quality nursing care, effective communication, and teamwork. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt to changing demands are essential.
Orientation & Training
All new hires will participate in a designated orientation week to acclimate to unit procedures and protocols. Attendance is required.
Dress Code
Scrub attire in navy blue is required.
