Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. This role provides direct patient care, focusing primarily on medical surgical patients with various diagnoses, including heart failure (CHF), pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Medical Surgical unit.
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions and vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments as per prescribed protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate and support patients and their families regarding health management.
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
• Respond to patient emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
• May float to other units based on staffing needs, including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current and valid Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience with patient care in a Medical Surgical setting preferred.
• Ability to read telemetry strips competently; training will be provided.

Unit Details

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Number of Beds: 37
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5 on days, 1:5 or 1:6 on nights.
• Patient Aide Ratio: 1:12.

Schedule and Requirements

• This position requires a commitment to self-scheduling a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule.
• Holidays may also require coverage according to unit needs.
• Candidates must be available for a designated week of orientation, which may include both in-person and remote modules.

Dress Code

The required scrub color is navy blue.
