Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, utilizing critical thinking skills and teamwork.
Shift Information
- Shift: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Information
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Number of Beds: 34
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in Med Surg
Common Diagnoses
The ICU cares for a variety of adult and pediatric patients over the age of 15, including those with:
- Neurosurgery cases
- Respiratory failure and ARDS
- Sepsis and MODS
- Stroke and cardiogenic shock
- Renal failure including CRRT
- General surgery and cancer-specific surgeries
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience is required.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies, including titration of drips such as vasopressors, narcotics, and sedation.
- Monitor patients' conditions and interpret telemetry readings from Draeger heart monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Engage in real-time training for equipment usage and patient management strategies.
Work Environment
This is a dynamic and fast-paced unit, best suited for individuals who thrive in high-pressure situations, demonstrate strong communication skills, and possess a positive attitude. A commitment to teamwork and high-quality care is essential.
Scheduling Information
- Shift Hours: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirements: 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit needs.
Additional Notes
All staff must adhere to policies regarding personal grooming, including the prohibition of artificial nails in patient care areas. Orientation includes unit-specific training to ensure nurses are well-prepared for the demands of the ICU.

I worked 4South/ the people are amazing and flexible, helpful, and supportive to work with. The charges are incredibly helpful.
Cons
Poor communication between residents/ attendings l which affects what is told to nursing and communicated to nursing. This was a huge issue working here. Also the resources are low, things always out of stock on the floor, only one translator / bladder scanner per floor , things like that.
