Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our NeuroTrauma ICU (NTICU) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in a demanding environment, focusing on neuro and trauma patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with diverse critical care needs.
• Work collaboratively within the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Titrate medications and manage vital care devices.
• Educate patients and their families regarding care plans and recovery processes.

Unit Information

Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Number of Beds: 24

Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:2

Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, neuro conditions, trauma, orthopedic, surgical, and medical cases.

Qualifications

• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS required; CRRT and TCAR preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care, with a focus on trauma/surgical and neuro patients preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts, including a minimum of six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule. Self-scheduling is allowed to promote work-life balance.

Additional Information

This unit is a Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center. Staff are required to complete 8 hours of trauma and stroke education annually. Orientation will be conducted on-site, with some modules available remotely.

The unit operates without nurse aides, and all registered nurses are expected to read their own telemetry strips using Philips monitors. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 within the ICU.
