Description
Position Summary
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I (MRI Tech I) provides healthcare services by assisting in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. This role involves performing MRI procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The MRI Tech I operates a magnetic resonance scanner, obtaining images crucial for diagnosing and treating patient conditions. Utilizing knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy, the technologist assures high-quality images while minimizing unnecessary exposure through skilled modifications of technical settings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified MRI Technician certification.
- Prior MRI experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform MRI exams and procedures as directed by medical staff.
- Assist Radiologists and other medical personnel during procedures.
- Undertake ancillary duties related to the distribution, billing, and archiving of exams and procedures.
- Document all necessary information for accurate interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
- Retrieve previous images, studies, and related health information to ensure timely completion and reporting of MRI exams.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on MRI scanners and archive imaging data.
- Engage in the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of hospital quality indicators.

- Ability to thrive in a busy and stressful work environment with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in problem analysis and decision-making.
- Exhibits tact, discretion, sensitivity, and ensures confidentiality.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office, EMR systems, and general office equipment.
- Self-directed and capable of completing assignments accurately and thoroughly with minimal oversight.
Schedule Requirements
This role requires regular and consistent attendance. The position may require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, which can include weekends and after-hours shifts.
Shift Information
Full-time, working four 10-hour shifts from Monday through Friday, with shift times that may vary between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Holiday Coverage
Holiday coverage is required for this position.
Minimum Years of Experience
Two years of relevant experience is required.
Certifications / Requirements
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ARRT certification in MRI.
