ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This role will involve providing critical care to patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU). The ideal candidate will be equipped with the necessary skills and certifications to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Schedule: Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotating holidays with core staff

Unit Information

Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)

• Number of Beds: 10
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
• Common Diagnoses: Postoperative recoveries, primarily vascular procedures (femoral-popliteal bypass, thoracic surgeries)
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner

Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU)

• Number of Beds: 8
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for IABP and donor patients; 1:2 for others
• Common Diagnoses: Various trauma cases, CRRT, line insertions
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner

Responsibilities

As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will:

• Monitor and assess critically ill patients
• Administer medications and provide interventions as needed
• Read and interpret EKG strips and manage ventilators
• Collaborate with the healthcare team for optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions
• Float to other facilities and units as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with ventilators and telemetry
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment

Additional Information

• Self-scheduling is available with schedules released every 4 weeks
• Orientation provided for 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor
• Scrub Color: Navy; undergarments must be navy, white, or black
