Physical Therapist

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist manages a hospital-based inpatient and outpatient physical therapy clinic. This role involves a commitment to the organization's core principles, including patient-centered excellence, employee focus, workforce development, community satisfaction, and financial viability. Responsibilities include supporting medical staff, participating in interdisciplinary team functions, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere, and encouraging professional development among department staff. The Physical Therapist will provide patient care, including skilled evaluations and treatment plan establishment, while optimizing departmental revenue streams and managing expenses. The role also requires ensuring compliance with all governing body guidelines for physical therapy practice and coordinating an orthopedic specialty field clinic.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
• Minimum Experience: Four (4) years of active, full-time patient care experience; previous managerial experience is preferred.
• License, Certification, Registration: Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist and possess current BLS certification.

Equipment/Tools

The following tools and equipment are commonly used:

• Office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine)
• Therapeutic exercise equipment, hi-lo tables, ultrasound and electric stimulation modalities in a standard physical therapy department environment
• For village-based settings, treatment tables and portable equipment (e.g., theraband, ultrasound) are utilized; travel is required via small, non-pressurized aircraft.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and documentation; proficient in writing professional correspondence; effective communication skills in one-on-one or group settings.
• Mathematical Skills: Strong understanding of basic arithmetic and ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; capable of interpreting simple graphs and spreadsheet formulas.
• Computer Skills: Proficient in creating and editing professional written correspondence; skilled in using MS Excel for spreadsheets and graphs; able to develop professional MS PowerPoint presentations.
• Reasoning Ability: Competence in applying common sense to follow detailed instructions and addressing problems that involve multiple variables in administrative and patient care situations.

Shift Information

Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Holiday coverage is not required.

Minimum Years of Experience

Less than 1 year of relevant experience.

Certifications / Requirements

• BLS/BCLS certification required.
