Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be scheduled in accordance with facility policy and is expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. Responsibilities include providing high-quality patient care in a med/surg environment, using a team nursing approach, and participating in the patient’s bedside shift report.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 30 (when fully operational in March/April); currently operating at 18 beds during renovations.
• Patient Ratios: 6-7 patients per nurse.
• Staffing Approach: Team nursing with access to unit secretaries and tech availability.
• Type of Equipment: Standard equipment for Med/Surg.
• Documentation System: Meditech.
• Scheduling Requirements: Expected to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week scheduling period.
• Floating Policy: May be required to float to similar units based on needs.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Conduct hourly safety rounds and perform bedside shift reports with patients.

Qualifications

• Certifications Required: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (available for certification on-site).
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant setting.

Dress Code

Required uniform color: Navy.
