Description
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse for the Step Down unit will provide comprehensive care to patients with various medical conditions. This role is essential in ensuring the effective monitoring and treatment of patients recovering from acute illnesses.
Unit Information
- IMCU with 16-10 beds
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 to 4
Patient Population
- Sepsis
- Heart Failure
- Hypertensive Emergency
- Respiratory Failure
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
- Substance Abuse
- Encephalopathy
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, including Heparin drips and other IV therapies.
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health management.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Qualifications
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
