Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum. The successful candidate will have experience in high-risk deliveries and be familiar with specific medical protocols and procedures.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: L&D (Labor and Delivery)
• Number of L&D Beds: 12 beds
• Number of Triage Beds: 10 beds
• Number of Antepartum Beds: 12 beds
• Average Births per Month: 200
• Certifications Required: NRP, BLS, ACLS, Advanced AWHONN
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines
• FHM System: Fetal Link
• Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Yes, may take a patient assignment if needed
• Nurse Aides/OB Techs: 2 scheduled OB techs per shift

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients in labor and postpartum.
• Assist in deliveries and implement interventions based on the patient's condition.
• Monitor maternal-fetal data, evaluate care plans, and document patient responses.
• Administer medications, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips.
• Participate in the multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care.
• Float to antepartum and postpartum units as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Required experience in high-risk deliveries.
• Familiarity with labor protocols and procedures.
• Experience with circulating and scrubbing in C-sections preferred.

Schedule and Work Environment

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: One major holiday and two minor holidays per year.
• Orientation: Floor-specific orientation of 3 shifts.

Additional Information

This facility is the 13th largest center for births in California. Successful candidates must adhere to specific dress code policies and will not be permitted to wear acrylic or overlay nails during their assignment. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
