Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (RN)

Unit Information

Location: McAllen, TX

Number of Beds: 14 labor beds, 2 OR, 6 recovery bays, 8 antepartum beds
Number of Staff: 40
Patient Ratios: 1:2 labor, 1:4 antepartum
Type of Equipment: GE EFM, CPN
EMR: Meditech/Centricity Perinatal

Role Responsibilities

Manage labor and delivery care for patients
Administer medications and monitor patients' vital signs
Assist in performing vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
Provide care during postpartum period
Utilize appropriate medical equipment and technology

Qualifications

Required Skills:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Labor management skills
Preferred Skills:
- Able to circulate in Labor and Delivery Operating Room
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Intermittent Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Best Personality Fit: Positive, compassionate, and flexible

Work Environment

Typical staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 3-4 RNs on day and night shifts. The unit operates on a rotating weekend schedule.

Dress Code

Royal blue scrubs are required.
