Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced telemetry unit. This role involves providing exceptional care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients, and those at risk for stroke.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Days
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 27 (13 private, 14 semi-private)
• Nurse to Patient Ratios:
  • 1:4 for telemetry patients
  • 1:5 for MedSurg patients
  • If a mixed team of MedSurg and Telemetry patients, the ratio remains 1:4

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' nursing experience required
• Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS - AHA or APEX
• Cerner experience preferred

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

• Providing high-quality care to patients with diverse medical conditions
• Administration of medications and management of patient care plans
• Reading, interpreting, and signing off on telemetry strips
• Participating in shift huddles to ensure effective communication
• Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines

Team Structure

• House supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse managers and charge nurses assist during normal business hours
• Cross-functional team support including nursing shift managers and break nurses

Additional Information

• Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first to float to other units as necessary
• No call requirement; may be placed on standby during low census
• Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts in a 4-week rotation, including both Fridays/Saturdays for nights and Saturdays/Sundays for days
• Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 1 major and 1 minor holiday shift
• Unit dress code: Navy blue scrubs; specific requirements for undershirts and jackets

Orientation

New hires can expect 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
